Hi, I'm Divya Srinivasan.

A freelance designer focused on sustainable materials.

I'm a multidisciplinary person with a background in Materials Science and a passion for all things creative. I work on developing innovative and sustainable solutions for companies looking to reduce their footprint, whether that's in sustainable packaging, storytelling, roadmapping, and bringing unconventional and fresh ideas to the table. From 2018 to 2022 I was a Research and Development Engineer at Carbon, leading efforts in validating new materials, hardware and software for commercialization. This includes the first ever 3D printable denture, flame resistant epoxy, new washing systems and new additions to the 3D printer series.

I then spent a year exploring things that mattered to me - I received a 200-hr certification in teaching Yoga, taught STEAM afterschool programs for students in 2nd to 6th grade, led a summer design workshop with DesignX in softgoods, traveled the world, and honed my skills in ceramic design at Ohlone College,

I received a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University, and a Master of Design (MDes) from University of California, Berkeley. My first degree developed my technical chops and research abilities, and my design degree expanded the scales at which I work. I now have the skills and insight to develop and implement detailed solutions, while pushing forward high-level goals and systems thinking. My diverse skillsets and experiences are rooted in my values of designing sustainable, innovative solutions that seek to improve the materials and processes through which we create products and services.

My work has been awarded and published in several venues, including SF Design Week, TEI'25 (Tangible Embedded, and Embodied Interactions), CHI'25 (Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems), Macromolecular Rapid Communications, TechCon, and more.
